FISHING FOR FUTURE

2023-ongoing artistic action to seek new creative solutions for protecting rivers and reducing plastic in wate

As part of my ongoing project „Fishing For Future“, I spent two months in the summer of 2023 fishing plastic out of the Spree River on Wednesdays at the James Simon Ufer and set up a climate roundtable where I invited colleagues from the arts and culture sector, climate activists, friends, and passersby to discuss the issue of plastic in the Spree.
We organized workshops, concerts, lectures, sang karaoke with love songs to the river, built sculptures out of plastic, and painted visions of the future of water in a shared book.

From the pieces of plastic I fished out from the most-frequently fished plastic groups, I created the artwork „Subaquatic.“
